Prof. Dr. Adrian Civici

Rector of the University "Mediterranean of Albania"

Adrian Civici, Doctor of Economic Sciences (ENSA, Montpellier, France, 2002) and Doctor of Agrarian Economics (Agricultural University of Tirana, 1993). In 1995, he received the title "Associate Professor" and since 2011, holds the title "Professor" in Economic Sciences. During his professional career he has worked as: Head of the Department of Economy and Agrarian Policies (1992-1996), Dean of the Faculty of Agrarian Economics at UBT (1996-2001); Executive Director of the Center for Rural Studies and Sustainable Development (1998-2005); Adviser to the Minister of Finance (2001-2002); Director of the National Strategy for Economic and Social Development of Albania (2002-2006); Adviser for Development Plan at the Government of Kosovo (2006-2007); For several years, he has held important leadership positions at UET; Member of the Supervisory Board of the Bank of Albania (2005-2014).

Member of several international organizations and European universities: member of the Governing Board of EUROMONTA (European Organization for the Development of Mountain Areas); member of the Central Assembly of RONGEAD (Specialized Institute for International Trade Relations, France); member of the Scientific Council of RAFAC (Mediterranean Network for Sustainable Development); Associate Lecturer at the University of Lyon (ISARA), at CIHEAM – IAM Montpellier, University of Thessaly, Greece, University of Valencia, Spain, IAM Bari, Italy.

Areas of expertise: economic policies for transition economies, the process of transformation and structural reorganization of the Albanian economy, the economic theories and development models, policies and strategies of international institutions, financial markets, monetary policies and banks. Author of many books and articles within the coutry and abroad, etc. In 2009, Adrian Civici was awarded the title of "Academic Golden Palm Knight" by the French Presidency and the French Academy of Sciences.
