Internationalization

During an impressive ceremony in Piazza Venezia, 6, in Rome, in European Area David Sassuoli of Italian European Parliament Office, Mediterranean University of Albania and its Pro-Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arben Cici, were awarded with the international prize for their special contribution to the education of the culture of peace and the contribution to the service of peace in the world.

The president of the international organization BooksforPeace, Prof. Antonio Imeneo, heanded in the award to Prof. Arben Cicit, in the presence of a distinguished international, political, diplomatic and media representative audience.

Vice-President of the European Parliament Honorable Pina Pincierno, the famous Italian journalist Antonio Albanese, the UNFPA Albania Agency, the American Academy in Rome, the former Italian Ambassador to the Middle East H.E.Mr. Claudio Pacifico and other personalities in the field of politics, academic, investigative journalism, art, sports, were awarded the same prize during this impressive ceremony, for their contribution to the benefit of human rights, women's and children's rights, to the benefits of the peace in the world.

The creation of the chair "Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain for Just Peace" has made the Mediterranean University of Albania part of a wide network of renowned scientific and university institutions. Through the education of the "culture of peace" the chair’s activity aims, among other things, to build communicative bridges and also to encourage, not only university and academic exchanges but also, the interaction of our societies,.

The curriculum for Just Peace has already become part of the Master's Program at the Mediterranean University of Albania, in the module "Human Rights and the Culture of Peace" during which professors, diplomats and prominent personalities from Albanian and Arab countries are giving lectures on civilization, culture and Arabic language, on the Mediterranean region and the closeness between the nations and peoples, who live the history and the future on its shores.

The chair "Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Chair for Just Peace" is focused on the education, creation and spread of the culture of peace, especially in the context of interaction and relations in the Arab and Mediterranean space, between Arab and European civilization and culture, through, among others, the cultivation of cooperation and mutual recognition of societies, university and academic circles, cultural, social, media, where we live and work.

This special international award and gratefulness clearly confirms once again on the activity and multifaceted contemporary, academic, educational, social and humane values carried by the Mediterranean University of Albania and its academic staff, not only at the national level, but also globally for questions of crucial importance, such as human rights and peace in the word.
