Free legal aid for citizens, Mediterranean University signs cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Justice

The Mediterranean University of Albania signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Justice for the Legal Clinic, opened at this institution which offers free legal aid. The agreement was signed by the Rector of the Mediterranean University, Adrian Civici and the Minister of Justice, Etilda Gjoni. The opening of the Legal Clinic is accredited by the Faculty of Law and International Relations. The primary goal of the Legal Clinic is to provide free legal aid to the marginalized sections of society as well as the training of law students in practice who, under the supervision of responsible lecturers, expert in various fields of law, study issues and give legal opinion required by these individuals. "This agreement paves the way for cooperation with a new vision to go beyond the walls of the University, moving on to concrete issues with input for citizens in need of legal assistance, which is provided by the Legal Clinic of the Mediterranean University of Albania." said the founder of the Mediterranean University of Albania Academic, Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli. He added that the institutionalization of Cooperation Relations between this clinic of the Faculty of Law of the Mediterranean University of Albania and the Ministry of Justice is something very positive. "Also, beyond this Agreement, the cooperation should be further deepened, as we know all the reforms in Justice are one of the most important reforms that Albania has undoubtedly undertaken on its path towards European integration," said the founder of MUA. The Minister of Justice Etilda Gjoni said that the assistance provided by Legal Clinics is a very valuable product that enables the provision of free assistance to all citizens. "Undoubtedly, free legal aid is a direct product of justice reform, and if there was one issue that we strongly dealt with was citizens' access to the justice system. Being one of the main objectives of what the reform wanted to bring. "But it is not only the justice institutions that provide assistance, but also other mechanisms such as the free legal clinic for all those citizens who are financially incapable", said the Minister. Connecting the bridges of cooperation with the Ministry of Justice is an important factor for the progress of the Legal Clinic, helping to promote and increase its performance, which means, in the future, providing free legal aid to more individuals, who are in need. Also, thanks to the agreement, the Ministry of Justice will support the legal clinic and at the request of the latter, participates in campaigns for legal awareness and public education.
