Historical Background
2007- The Mediterranean University of Albania was founded by Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli, with the support of a group of intellectuals and collaborators, professors, and experts with long experience in the academic and scientific research fields in Albania and the region.
2009- The Mediterranean University of Albania was licensed by the Government as an institution of education and scientific research, and in this same year, it began its activity in accordance with the Bologna Process.
2010- The profile of the Mediterranean University of Albania in the field of Higher Education was consolidated by increasing the number of students and academic staff, as well as by organizing successful international scientific conferences.
2011- The Mediterranean University, in its new building, offers its students the highest contemporary standards. The Mediterranean University expands its cooperation with partner universities at home and abroad and becomes a member of important networks in the Mediterranean region, Europe, and Asia.
2012- The Mediterranean University of Albania graduates its first generation of students in the Bachelor programs it offers and continues the tradition of international scientific conferences. In this same year, the Mediterranean University of Albania successfully passed the accreditation process for all its programs.
2013- By guaranteeing quality in teaching, the Mediterranean University of Albania continues to raise standards and the number of students while also expanding the range of study programs. Its credibility in the higher education market is consolidated by adding qualified lecturers.
2014- The Mediterranean University adapts to the reforms and challenges of Higher Education in Albania during this period, continuing to excel by offering its students the highest quality of teaching in its faculties.
2015- Scientific forums and international conferences increased, and parallel to them, this academic year saw an increased demand from high school graduates, primarily selecting the Faculty of Economy as the most sought-after over the years at the Mediterranean University of Albania.
2016- The Mediterranean University of Albania opens new second-cycle study programs in the field of information technology. The demand for these Master's programs grew, resulting in an increase in students in both study cycles offered by this University.
2017- The Mediterranean University of Albania successfully passed the institutional accreditation as a legal obligation and a guarantee for the quality of teaching it offers. The number of students continues to grow in accordance with the internal restructuring and improvement of this University. The selected academic staff and infrastructure differentiate MUA in the Higher Education market.
2018- The Mediterranean University of Albania arrives with a new image, a higher number of open lectures, scientific conferences, and high-level activities. The number of students across 3 faculties reached more than 3,000 in both study cycles, turning it into a factor in private higher education as one of the most sought-after universities.
2019- On the 10th anniversary of its founding, among the most prominent personalities in the field, the Mediterranean University of Albania reconfirms once again its achieved objectives and standards, positioning itself as one of the most elite higher education institutions in the country. With an approach that differentiates it from others, the challenges of the following decade are set out, always keeping students prepared for the labor market at the center.
2020- The year of the global pandemic did not prevent the adaptation to online teaching for the students of the Mediterranean University of Albania, where in record time all academic staff was supported by offering modern teaching techniques, as well as webinars so that learning did not stop for a single day. MUA in 2020 counted about 3,500 students in its faculties.
2021- Two-year professional programs in the field of information technology expand the range of students at the Mediterranean University of Albania, enabling quality education for young professionals in these highly demanded fields in the local and foreign labor markets.
2022- The Mediterranean University of Albania enters a new stage by opening the third-cycle "Doctorate" study programs in "Economic Sciences." Internationalization remains the main focus, and the first group of MUA students is sent abroad for a semester with a scholarship funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program. The Faculty of Informatics is opened as a market demand, adapting to digitalization.
2023- MUA finalizes another important project with the Faculty of Medical Sciences, in the General Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Laboratory Technician programs. Today, this faculty carries out its activity in a modern building with high infrastructural standards.
Furthermore, MUA finalized other projects regarding education, with programs for the preparation of teachers for various levels of the preschool and primary systems, covering a wide range of educational needs while significantly improving academic quality in these fields.
