The memorial ceremony in honor of the life and work of Prof. Dr. Bashkim Rama, who lost his life a few months ago, took place today at the premises of the Mediterranean University of Albania. To honor his figure, there were present family members of the Rama family, the founder of the Mediterranean University of Albania Academician Anastas Angjeli, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, historians and diplomats. "In January 1991, I had the opportunity to get to know Bashkim, as a man and as a diplomat as well. He was for us a precious friend, an extraordinary connoisseur of Albanian culture, which distinguished him from other diplomats', stated Mr. Angjeli. Friends of the diplomat also narrated episodes from his life which speak clearly, about his professional and human values. In the studies of Prof. Bashkim Rama, diplomacy was a field of special interest, especially in terms of Balkan issues which he knew quite well. "To be able to prepare negotiations between Albania and the Soviet Union at that time was a very difficult task, which Bashkim Rama knew how to do excellently," said Prof. Ksenofon Krisafi, who is another senior diplomat, and Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Relations at the Mediterranean University of Albania. The wife of the diplomat, who was present at the ceremony, cordially thanked the friends and guests who brought back his memory once again in this memorial ceremony.
