The well-known Bulgarian-American researcher Maria Todorova visits the Mediterranean University of Albania

The founder of the Mediterranean University of Albania, Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli together with Vice- Rectors Nevila Rama, Pëparim Kabo and the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Humanities, Ksenofon Krisafi and other representatives of the academic staff, welcomed today in a meeting the well-known Bulgarian-American researcher Maria Nikolaeva Todorovam who was accompanied in this meeting by the researcher Eda Derhemi.

Professor Angjeli introduced the researcher to the development of MUA, the goals for the highest quality teaching and adaptation to the market demands inside and outside Albania. In this context Prof. Angjeli emphasized the internationalization progress of the Mediterranean University and the cooperation with European and American universities.

During the meeting, the present researchers discussed the countries of the Balkans, their history and development and the design of the common future in a region with challenging dynamics and which experiences significant conflicts even today. Professor Todorova shared interesting details about her publications and research work.

Professor Maria Todorova became internationally known with her book "Imagining the Balkans", translated into all the languages of the peoples of the region and into most European languages. Her name ranks alongside the world's most prominent contemporary thinkers. Maria Todorova's studies have a strong methodological impact on several generations of today's researchers, especially for the hierarchies of civilizations, the meaning of Orientalism and Occidentalism, the knowledge and self-knowledge of the Balkans, balkanized phenomena due to historical and genetic causes, the Balkan understanding of life and day, history and the future. Maria Todorova is a visiting professor in most countries of the world, and holds high scientific titles and public honors.
