Post-Covid, two economics experts analyze long-term strategies and changes in the labor market

Anastas Angjeli: Economic thinking is the orientation towards new models

Adrian Civici: Structural change of the labor market, the professions of the future

The new challenges, long-term strategies of socio-economic development, structural changes in the labor market and the birth of new professions in the post-Covid period were the key points of the two open lectures held today by two well-known experts in economics, in the premises of the Academy of Sciences, Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli and Associate Academician Prof. Dr. Adrian Civici. The founder and rector of the Mediterranean University of Albania analyzed the prospects of economic development as well as the expected changes in the labor market. "The COVID pandemic found the whole world unprepared, facing, among other things, the lack of a long-term strategic vision in the face of rapid technological and innovative change, cyber advancements and especially artificial intelligence.”These challenges require a new approach to economic thinking which is necessarily oriented towards BigData economics, Artificial Intelligence and models, innovative economics, crypto-currencies and the revision of modern monetary theory," stated the Academician, Prof.Dr. Anastas Angjeli in his lecture of “New challenges, changes in economic theories and strategies of socio-economic development in the period of the Covid pandemic 19 and long-term perspectives of development and good governance. He added that the focus on environmental sustainability, health, education, reducing inequality and a greater sustainability should be built into the structures of the economy from the beginning while drafting new integral policies is vital. The Rector of the Mediterranean University of Albania, Adrian Civici stated in his lecture "Evolution and structural changes in the labor market and the birth of new professions in the post-Covid-19 period", after making a detailed analysis of the professions that were strongly hit from the crisis, those which resisted it and the professions of the future, that the economy, finance, business, services, public sector, administration, must adapt to this trend described as "delinearization" of habits of life, consumption, production and distribution, finance, transport, communication, business model, etc., "provoked" by the COVID-19 pandemic situation, but also served as the road to the future. Now, almost every "decision" or "action" will be based on digital techniques. On the other hand, the labor market has evolved and changed faster and in more specific directions in relation to the speed of response of universities and their "products" to the demands of the labor market. "It is the universities that must react quickly and intelligently to anticipate the specific 'special' demands of the labor markets," said Civici. Therefore, according to him, it is necessary to respond with a modernized and specific university offer.
