The American week, organised by MUA concluded with the scientific conference “100 years of relations between Albania and America (1922-2022)”

The American week at the premises of Mediterranean University of Albania ended today with the scientific conference “100 years of relations between Albania and America (1922-2022),” organized by MUA along with the Academy of Sciences. This conference brought together well-known researchers, as well as young ones, who presented their scientific papers on the history and dynamics of a century of relations between Albania and the United States of America. Present at the panel were the Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ms Megi Fino, the President of the Academy of Sciences, Mr Skënder Gjinushi, and the President of the Mediterranean University of Albania, Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angeli. Other guests invited to the conference were academics, politicians, and well-known historians who either presented their research papers to the conference or were part of other ongoing sessions, which took place at the premises of Mediterranean University of Albania.

“Today, we are concluding an intense week with a series of activities held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the USA and Albania, which will be of great importance for the future of our country. The value of this conference goes beyond the academic plan, thus having a concrete value even for the Albania’s foreign policy,” said the President of MUA, Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angeli. The President of the Academy of Sciences, Academician Prof. Dr. Skënder Gjinushi, emphasized in his speech that America has never been on the side of alliances or countries that intended to affect or endanger the integrity of Albania, the freedom and independence of Albanians. “USA has always been the main factor making it possible for the Albanians to line up alongside the most progressive and democratic forces of the time,” said Mr Gjinushi in his welcoming speech.

Deputy Minister, Ms Fino, underlined the importance of USA-Albania strategic partnership. “As an elected Member of the Security Council, Albania is working closely with USA on a wide range of issues, part of the agenda of UNO bodies,” said the Deputy Minister. The following academics also had their say in the conference: Mr Vasil Tole, Mr Adrian Civici, Mr Paskal Milo, Mr Ksenofon Krisafi, Mr Irakli Koçollari, and Mr Arben Cici.
