MUA opens the winter school "Information and Privacy"

Mediterranean University of Albania establishes Cooperation Agreement with the Commissioner for the Right of Information and Protection of Personal Data.

The Winter School "Information and Privacy" opens for students and academic staff. The Mediterranean University of Albania signed today the inter-institutional cooperation agreement with the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data, represented by the Commissioner, Loyalty Dervishi. The agreement aims at mutual cooperation in the implementation of the highest standards in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms. According to her, the parties also engage in the opening and organizing of the School for Student Ability and academic and administrative staff, in obtaining knowledge on the right of information and protection of personal data. "The signing of this agreement is of special importance to the students of our University, because it is hoped that through it will open more opportunities for them to obtain qualified knowledge of the applicable legislation on the right to information and protection of personal data, as well as to get acquainted with concrete cases of practice in these", said during the ceremony, founder of Mediterranean University, Prof.Anastas Angjeli. According to him, both sides opt for a good will to consolidate co-operation in concrete directions to ensure the future of a newly protected and well-informed generation of their rights. The Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data Mr. Besnik Dervishi, said that recognition of the legislation of both fields, privacy and the right of information through cooperation with higher education institutions is very important. "The Office of the Commissioner is consolidating this tradition with several universities in the country, with the aim of promoting social education in respecting the fundamental human rights," said Mr Dervishi. The signed agreement includes such important components as respecting and preserving privacy and protecting personal data, respecting the right to information on official documents, implementing best procedures for mutual exchange of information etc. They are the subject of activity for the Office of the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Protection of Personal Data but are also part of the curricula in some of the faculties of the Mediterranean University of Albania.
