The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Albania, His Excellency Karel Urban, visits the Mediterranean University of Albania

Today the President of the Mediterranean University of Albania, Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli received today in a meeting the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Albania, His Excellency Karel Urban. Professor Angjeli informed the ambassador about the internationalization process of the Mediterranean University and its growth, both from a quantitative and qualitative point of view, underlining the significant number of cooperation agreements with the universities of the Western Balkans and those of the European Union countries. “This cooperation,” Professor Angjeli emphasized, “extends to the bilateral level and to that of Erasmus +, which benefits students and lecturers throughout the academic year and during summer courses that organize certain exchange programs.” The President of the Mediterranean University expressed his willingness to cooperate with Czech universities even because there is an early tradition from the considerable group of students educated in that country in various fields, and especially because the Czech Republic is a friendly and supportive country of Albania in the process of integration into the European Union. Ambassador Karel Urban thanked the Mediterranean University for the invitation and also expressed his willingness to promote the establishment of connections and contacts of the universities of his country with the Mediterranean University and the extension of cooperation at the teaching and academic level, as well as participation and organization of joint conferences and activities. At this meeting, which was also attended by other leaders of the Mediterranean University of Albania, he then held an open lecture in the presence of students and lecturers on bilateral relations between Czech Republic and Albania and the Czech Presidency of the European Council during the second half of 2022, a lecture which was attended with great interest and accompanied with many questions from the audience. Ambassador Karel Urban donated several books and magazines with information about the Czech Republic published during the past year, the year of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Albania and the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
