The Mediterranean University of Albania marked the end of Pink October with an activity aimed at raising breast cancer awareness.

October, recognized as Pink October, is the month dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer in women and girls. It was fittingly concluded with a significant event organized by the Faculty of Law and Humanities and the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the Mediterranean University of Albania. The event boasted a distinguished panel of women, including two Vice-Rectors of the Mediterranean University of Albania, Greta Angjeli and Nevila Rama; Denada Seferi, the Vice-Minister of Health and Social Affairs; Klotilda Ferati, the Deputy Chair of the Laws Commission in the Parliament; Anisa Ruseti, the Director of the Recreation Park of the Municipality of Tirana; Dhurata Cupi, a Member of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania on the Health Commission; Anila Mece, the Executive Director of Save the Children; and Gent Stroni, the Coordinator of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. Nora Malaj, a politician, former Deputy Minister of Education, and current lecturer at the Mediterranean University of Albania, expertly moderated the event.

Participants underscored the vital importance of enhancing awareness about the prevention of breast cancer. They also called attention to the indispensable need for comprehensive healthcare and psychological support for women battling this disease. They affirmed that overcoming breast cancer requires not only individual resilience but also robust support from families, healthcare systems, and society at large.

The aim of this event was for the University to serve as a nexus of education and awareness for the broader community. To cap off the occasion, attendees were invited to tour the laboratories in the new building of the Mediterranean University of Albania, a facility where students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences will undertake their practical training.
