The esteemed writer Ismail Kadare visited the Mediterranean University of Albania

The esteemed writer Ismail Kadare, accompanied by his wife, Helena Kadare, paid a visit to the Mediterranean University of Albania. Following a meeting with the President of the university, Academic. Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli, the renowned author engaged in a heartfelt conversation with the academic staff and students of MUA. The discussion encompassed his literary works, perspectives, exceptional contributions as an author, and his significant influence not only within literature but also in shaping Albania’s global image. Kadare’s literary works have been translated into numerous languages worldwide, earning high praise and acclaim. “We are honoured to host an exceptional personality and author like Ismail Kadare today, for whom words scarcely do justice. I can confidently assert that since the inception of the Mediterranean University of Albania 15 years ago, no event holds greater significance than your visit, which will remain etched in the memories of future generations of students,” remarked the President of MUA in his address.

Kadare himself responded to a series of questions from the participants, expressing his appreciation for the university environment that led him to accept the invitation, especially considering his recent absence in public appearances.

“Thank you for your gracious invitation. I feel immense happiness here. It’s a beautiful setting. There is light, there is love in the eyes. I receive numerous invitations, but honestly, I can’t attend all of them due to unexpected obstacles. However, today I feel content that I accepted your invitation,” Kadare conveyed at the outset of the meeting. He underscored that each writer embarks on their distinct journey. “Our lives unfold in this manner, infused with the elation of recognition and affection. I encourage you to feel at liberty to ask questions, as every query brings me joy and is pleasing to hear. In these encounters, something flourishes in your consciousness. Something alters, something evolves, so I urge you to share your thoughts,” Kadare expressed.

Helena Kadare, the esteemed writer and Kadare’s wife, present at the meeting, warmly responded to a series of questions from the audience.
