The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, visits the Mediterranean University of Albania

The Mediterranean University of Albania had the pleasure of welcoming on an official visit the President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Bajram Begaj. The visit took place at the premises of the university’s main building and at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, where the President was received by the President of UMSH, Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli, the Rector Prof. Dr. Adrian Civici, as well as academic staff, lecturers, and students.

During the meeting, Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli emphasized the importance of investing in higher education and the role the university has played in educating new generations according to the highest European standards.

The Mediterranean University of Albania was founded with the will, vision, and belief to create an elite Albanian institution of higher education, with a capable, ??????, and professional academic staff, but above all motivated to educate generations of students not only according to the demands of the labor market and its trends, but primarily in line with the highest European standards. Today, after nearly two decades, we are very proud to affirm that our university is part of the elite of Albanian higher education institutions, thanks precisely to the dedication of our academic staff, which includes distinguished personalities in the fields of economics, law, foreign policy, sciences, psychosocial sciences, technology and informatics, and medicine,” stated Angjeli.
He added that today, the Mediterranean University of Albania is not only a higher education institution, but also a sustainable investment in knowledge and scientific research, and a guarantee of a secure, successful, and professional future for the youth of today and tomorrow.
Mr. President, once again I have the privilege to thank you and to express our deep gratitude for your visit to the Mediterranean University,” stated Academician Prof. Dr. Anastas Angjeli.

For his part, the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, praised the development and academic profile of the Mediterranean University of Albania, emphasizing the importance of quality in higher education and the role of universities in shaping the citizens and professionals of the future.
For me, it is a pleasure to be at the Mediterranean University, an institution which in less than two decades has managed to establish its academic profile and occupy an important place in Albanian higher education. Today’s visit, not only here but also in your auditoriums, laboratories, and university facilities, will give me the opportunity to closely observe a reality that is truly changing,” stated Begaj.

The President emphasized that the university is the place where knowledge is acquired, and today the challenge is even greater. Albania needs universities that produce not only professionals, but also individuals who know how to think freely, debate with arguments, and, importantly, take public responsibility. A democratic country is built not only through public institutions or political institutions, but also through academic institutions, which must be serious. “In this regard, the role of private higher education has been and remains important. It has brought competition, alternatives, internationalization, and greater flexibility in response to the changes of the time. However, it must be stated clearly that competition in education should not be a marketing race. It should be a competition based on quality. The universities that will survive in the coming decade, in my view, will not necessarily be the largest ones, but those that understand more quickly the transformation of the world,” stated President Begaj.

During the visit, President Begaj held meetings with the university’s academic leadership and toured the premises of UMSH’s main building, as well as the lecture halls and laboratories of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. The visit focused on gaining first-hand insight into the infrastructure investments, academic programs, and contemporary standards of teaching and scientific research offered by the Mediterranean University of Albania.
