Successful Two-Week Data Journalism Training for Students in the Framework of the WEBJOU Project: ALBANIA's PILOT

We are excited to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive training program organized under the framework of the WEBJOU Project. The training aimed to equip students with essential skills in data journalism, featuring 6 different modules and 12 sub-modules. The program was conducted in two phases, offering a rich mix of online and in-person learning experiences.

Week 1: Online (May 7-10, 2024)
During the first week, students from the Mediterranean University of Albania, alongside other participants, took part in intensive online sessions that covered key topics, including Data Discovery, Big Data, Data Ethics, and Data Visualization. The training focused on introducing students to the foundational concepts of data journalism and their practical applications.

Week 2: In-Person (May 20-23, 2024)
In the second week, participants gathered for hands-on, in-person training sessions. Topics such as Statistical/Data Literacy, Data Storytelling, and Social Network Analysis were explored. Ilda Kashami and Aurora Daka from the Mediterranean University of Albania led a dynamic session on Social Media Management, empowering students with the tools to navigate and manage social media platforms effectively for data-driven journalism.

The in-person week also featured modules on Geospatial Data Analysis, Graphic Design, and Digital Tools, ensuring a well-rounded approach to the evolving field of data journalism.

This training represents an important milestone in the development of data journalism skills in Albania, and we are grateful to be part of this exciting journey!
